We had an eventful last day of school here at DWE! We celebrated our 5th graders with the 5th grade parade, Rattles came for the parade and wished the students a happy last day of school! We ended our day like we always do by waving at the buses as they pulled away for the last time this year.

We had our last Caught in the ACT Breakfast of the year today. These students earned this special breakfast by consistently following the ACT Statement this quarter and earning a Caught in the ACT card. The names of these 18 students were drawn out of the hundreds of Caught in the ACT cards that got turned in this quarter. Keep up the great work Diamondbacks!

Tonight is out last Skate Night of the year! Come on out to Skate Country for a great time celebrating the end of the school year!
Today we celebrated our A+ School of Excellence recognition from the Arizona Education Foundation.
We had so much fun celebrating our schools success by showcasing several of our incredibly talented students and staff! We also had a special appearance from the very TAIL-ented Rattles as we unveiled our new mascot!
Thank you to Mr. Peter Wells, from the Arizona Education Foundation, and Mrs. Tamara McAllister, the head judge from our A+ visit in January, for coming to our celebration and presenting us with this award.
We would also like to thank all the Superintendents, Governing Board Members, VUSD Staff, Desert Willow Parents and Community Members who joined us for our celebration today.
And a special thank you to Kendra Santucci for assisting us with the drone for the incredible arial photograph.

This morning was Field Day! A huge shout out to Mrs. McCabe for planning this amazing day, and a big thank you to the whole specialist team and our amazing volunteers for helping this day run so smoothly.
This afternoon was the PTA Read-a-thon Slime Assembly. The students that read the most minutes during the Read-a-thon got to slime Mrs. Forgacs and Mrs. Owens! Thank you PTA for organizing the Read-a-thon and the assembly, and thank you to our principals for being such good sports!
