I grew up in California, where I met and married my husband in 1986. Our daughter was born in 1987, shortly before we moved to New Jersey. Our journey brought us to Tucson in 1997, where I volunteered in my daughter’s classroom. I so enjoyed working with the students, I knew this is what I wanted to do! I went back to school and received my teaching certification from the University of Arizona in 2002, and began my first job in education that fall. Since then, I’ve been so fortunate to work with wonderful students, parents, and colleagues!
This is my ninth year at Sycamore, and my nineteenth year in the teaching profession. In my time here, I have served on the Core Team Committee, the District Cadre Committee, The Wellness Committee and Student Solutions Team; I’ve headed up the STEM Club as well as coached the Girls on the Run program and now GROW for 3rd-5th grade girls. My goal is to continue bringing energy and enthusiasm to everything I do!
I love being a teacher for many different reasons. First, I want to make a difference and inspire students to reach their highest potential. Also, teaching is a career that allows for daily growth and learning, and that’s so exciting to me. I tell my students every day that I love my job because it keeps me on my toes and feeling young!
When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy traveling, hiking, teaching Jazzercise classes and spending time with my family.
