Mr. Mike Hernandez

I was born in Dumas, Texas and raised in Tucson, Arizona. I graduated from Sunnyside High School and moved to Vail in 2006 and began working for the Vail School District in 2012. My children have attended schools in Vail.

I decided to go back to school and graduated with my Bachelors Degree in Education from the University of Phoenix. I am excited to teach 2nd Grade at Sycamore Elementary School. I love working and teaching children. I strongly believe in promoting and encouraging students to learn in a safe and positive environment. Watching students grow and have fun learning helped me make the decision to become an educator and continue to work for the Vail School District and Community.

As a teacher, I enjoy sharing my enthusiasm for learning. I love watching students have fun while learning. I encourage students to ask questions and participate in the lessons that are presented to them, this promotes active communication, problem solving, and educational growth in the classroom.

My classroom has an open door policy. I strongly feel it is important to have open communication with students, parents, and the community. I want my students to know that I am here to meet their emotional and academic needs; that I am here for them as a mentor and coach.
