“Nine-tenths of education is encouragement.” —Anatole France This is my favorite quote because I believe any child who has encouragement can learn. I strive to create a classroom environment where each student feels encouraged no matter their learning style.
I am from a small town in Kentucky. I grew up in a family of educators and often tell people that teaching is just in my blood. I graduated from Prescott College in 2008 with a B.A in Elementary Education, Minor in History. I spent the next 11 years staying home and raising my kids. When we moved to the Vail area in 2017 I began substitute teaching and fell in love with the culture of Sycamore. In my spare time I enjoy hanging out with my family, watching my kids play sports, hiking, and doing simple crafts.
I am so excited to be starting my fourth year at Sycamore and continue to foster a love of learning for all of the students who come my way. I would consider myself an orderly and structured teacher, in a classroom with high expectations not only for myself but my students as well. I know how important it is for learning to be both engaging and impactful and I look forward to celebrating a great year with your students. I’m so excited to be able to work with you, and I openly value and welcome both feedback as well as an open line of communication when it comes to the success of your kiddo. I look forward to collaborating with my parents and students about their students success, while celebrating every achievement(both big and small) as we continue throughout the year.
