I grew up in small-town Ohio where I spent lots of time on my grandparents’ farm with a large extended family. I received my elementary education degree in 1995 and went on to be a Title I reading teacher and an intervention specialist. After two years, I moved to Tucson and began teaching first grade at Mesquite Elementary in the Vail School District where I stayed for four years. While teaching at Mesquite, I earned my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership.
When Sycamore was opening, I was part of the planning committee, site council, and leadership team and taught first grade and kindergarten during the first three years. I took some time off to stay at home with my three daughters and our family moved out here to be a part of the Vail community that I loved so much. After living here for a year, I returned to Sycamore to teach kindergarten and first grade. After a few years, I had the opportunity to become the ELP and Enrichment teacher at Sycamore and Copper Ridge. This is is my fourth year as the ELP and Enrichment teacher and my 17th year teaching in the district.
I absolutely love being the Extended Learning Program and Enrichment teacher at Sycamore and Copper Ridge. I believe that students should be given the opportunity to reach their full potential with motivating and challenging learning activities. I am excited to continue working with our ELP students during engaging lessons that foster their critical thinking, creativity, and problem solving skills.
