Mrs. Carrie Payne

I have taught 2nd grade for the past 17 years . I have been teaching in the Vail School District for 24 years and have been a part of the Vail School District community for 27 years. I started in Vail as a parent volunteer and then went to substituting and I was even a paraprofessional before getting my teaching certificate. I have since then earned my Master’s Degree in Education.

I have taught Music, 6th grade, 8th grade, I was an Inclusion Specialist and a Special Education teacher before coming to find a great fit in second grade. In addition to teaching, I am the advising teacher for Sycamore’s Higher Level Thinking and Muppet Clubs.

I am married and have three children. My two older children went through the Vail School District and graduated in 2003 and 2005. My youngest graduated in 2020 from Vail Academy and High School.

It is my goal to give your child the best possible education in a loving and nurturing environment that teaches respect for others and respect for themselves. I strive to provide a classroom environment that allows a child to be accepted regardless of their circumstances. I also believe that I am in a partnership with parents in educating students. I am excited to be a part of your child’s growth and development both academically and emotionally.
