Thank you parents for all of your understanding and patience as we have begun the Hybrid phase of learning. Whether your child is working from home or at school, your support means so much to our Sycamore staff. We are working to refine our on campus procedure (especially dismissal😊) and the synchronous times for our students learning from home. Either location of learning, I’m very proud of our successful second “first day of school” last Monday. As we continue forward, we will reaffirm our commitment to positive relationships with our with teachers, students and parents.
Parent-Teacher conferences are scheduled for this Thursday and Friday, October 1st and 2nd. During conferences, teachers will share your child’s progress during the 1st Quarter. If parents don’t have any questions or concerns, there is no need to schedule a conference.
Report cards for the 1st Quarter will be sent home one Friday, October 9. Students will be taking benchmarks starting with writing this week and math and reading during the week of October 5th. Results will be sent home with report cards.
For our families that are at school, we appreciate the continuous monitoring of your child’s health using our checklist (included) before sending them to school. Students that are showing the following symptoms: a fever of 100 or higher, cough, fatigue, headaches, sore throat or any of the other symptoms on our checklist, will need stay home. Based on District safety procedures, which follows the guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Arizona Department of Health and the Pima County Health Department (PCHD), any students with the above symptoms must stay at home until:
- No fever for at least 24 hrs without the use of fever reducing medication AND
- Symptoms are improving AND
- At least 10 days have passed since symptoms began.
- They may return sooner if they have an alternate diagnosis or a negative Covid-19 test result with documentation.
On a different note, Sycamore has been anxiously waiting to hear from the Arizona Education Foundation if we earned the A+ School of Excellence Award. Prior to school closures, Sycamore’s A+ application was accepted by the AEF and our school received a visit from judges. We felt very positive about the visit and received complimentary feedback from the judges.Unfortunately, the decision was postponed until October 7, 2020. We hope share some very positive news.
Thank you again for your continued support!
